2015 – certainly not my finest year!
I was a busy 35-year-old mum of two and working part-time when I was diagnosed back in June last year with triple negative breast cancer. Over nine months I underwent eight rounds of chemotherapy followed by surgery and six weeks of radiation.
I decided while having treatment that I wanted to participate in the Sussan Women’s Fun Run so I could support and bring awareness to Breast Cancer Network Australia (BCNA). BCNA does a wonderful job working to ensure that Australians affected by breast cancer receive the very best support, information, treatment and care.
I was completely overwhelmed by the generosity of family, friends and friends of family who donated on my behalf, as well as those who were eager to participate with me. Despite finishing chemo less than two weeks prior, I completed the 5 km walk with my two-year-old daughter, my sister, family members and a great bunch of girlfriends.
I hope to do it all again this year for such a worthy cause.
